What happened

Current JCBAAA requires phones and other personal devices to be off and out of sight during the instructional day and bars keeping them on the scholar after intake; silent use is allowed on buses. Confiscation periods escalate from five school days to 10 and then 45, and alternative-placement scholars may not possess devices.

Why it matters to families

The districtwide rule gives families the core daily phone rule and escalating 5/10/45-school-day consequences, while preserving written medical authorization and accommodation exceptions.

The evidence

The July 15, 2025 official policy states the off/out-of-sight rule, bus allowance, possession restriction after intake, escalating confiscation periods, alternative-placement restriction, and written medical/accommodation exceptions.
