District news

Free meals for all students may end at three schools

Day-to-day

What happened

On July 14, 2026, the board let administration drop the Community Eligibility Provision at Horizon Elementary, Summit Elementary and Falls City Academy if those schools' direct-certification rate falls below 55%. In May the board had approved the program, which gives every student free meals, for 2026-27.

Why it matters to families

If CEP ends, families at those schools may have to apply for free or reduced-price meals or pay for meals.

The evidence

The July 14, 2026 meeting page records the motion. The May 26, 2026 meeting page records the CEP approval.
