What happened

On October 14, 2026 the board talked about possibly closing the Johnson County Central elementary building in Tecumseh if the bond does not pass. About 250 students would then be bused to the Cook site. The board took no action and tabled the topic to its November 11 meeting.

Why it matters to families

Closing a building would change where young children go to school and how long they ride the bus. The board has said it faces hard choices if the bond fails.

The evidence

The October 14, 2026 regular meeting minutes record the discussion, the estimate of about 250 students, and that no action was taken. The July 21, 2026 retreat minutes also list closing either the Cook site or the Tecumseh elementary as a backup plan.
