District news
Actual enrollment falls further below projections, down 131 students year-over-year

What happened
As of September 4, 2026, K-12 enrollment stood at 3,678 students — 89 students (2.36%) below the district's FY27 budget projection of 3,767 and 113 students (3.44%) below last year's actual enrollment. Kindergarten enrollment dropped sharply (down 51 students, -21%).
Why it matters to families
Since state funding follows enrollment, actual enrollment coming in below budgeted projections signals lower-than-expected state foundation revenue for FY27, worsening the district's already tight budget picture and increasing pressure on the anticipated FY28 structural deficit. The district is responding by adjusting elementary staffing allocations and multiage classroom structures to maintain target pupil-teacher ratios.
The evidence
Superintendent's Report: 'Enrollment after the initial 10-day window stands at 3,678 K–12 students, which is 89 students (-2.36%) below budget projections and down 113 students (-3.44%) year-over-year... Incoming Kindergarten enrollment sits at 188 students (down 51 YoY).' District leadership is 'working closely with elementary principals to balance staffing allocations and adjust multiage classroom structures (e.g., K–1, 2–3) to maintain our target Pupil-Teacher Ratios (PTR).'
