Board starts a plan for school buildings and land; five-year facilities plan due June 2027

What happened
At a September 28 work session the board heard a framework for deciding what to do with district-owned buildings and land. No decisions were requested. Staff expect options and community input in early 2027 and a five-year facilities plan in June 2027.
Why it matters to families
With the merge done, the district has an empty school building and land it may sell, lease or keep. These choices affect taxes, child care and neighborhoods.
The evidence
The slides say: 'The Board will not be asked to take action tonight, or study any decisions for action this fall,' and list steps from Sept. 28 to a five-year facilities plan in June 2027. They list as settled: Resolution 25-05 declaring about 11 acres near LCIS surplus, and that voters declined the 2023 bond to renovate LCIS. The Oct. 26 agenda adds facilities planning and a draft lease for the Bright Start preschool.
