What happened

The district merged schools over summer 2026. Grades 3 to 5 moved from Lake County Intermediate School (LCIS) to Lake County Elementary School, and 6th grade moved to Lake County High School. LCIS now hosts Project Dream after-school programs.

Why it matters to families

Fewer students means less money, and the district says LCIS could need large repairs. The district expects the merge to free about $500,000 a year.

The evidence

The district's 'What & Why' presentation lists the grade moves, says funding follows enrollment, says staying in LCIS risks an emergency move of hundreds of students, and states 'We anticipate the school merge will free up about $500,000 of funds annually.' Feb. 9 and Nov. 10 minutes show consolidation updates to the board. Later board packets say voters declined a 2023 bond to renovate LCIS.
