What happened

The board adopted Policy 6355 against voluntarily allowing new electric transmission lines on school property, above or below ground. An exception requires a public full-board vote and documented review. The board also authorized a challenge to the Golden–Mars decision and talks with Dominion.

Why it matters to families

The route dispute concerns Rock Ridge and Rosa Lee Carter. The board did not grant a route or easement at this meeting, and its new policy does not overturn the state regulator’s order.

The evidence

The July 13 board adopted the policy 8–0–1 and unanimously authorized a reconsideration or clarification petition and related filings, with negotiations focused on student safety and school operations.
