What happened

The October 21, 2026 agenda asked the board to approve joining a group of more than 20 Colorado districts suing Meta, TikTok, Snap and YouTube. The districts say the apps harmed learning and cost schools money for phone pouches, lockers and counseling. Joining would take about 10 hours of staff time and no up-front cost, and could bring money back if the case is won or settled.

Why it matters to families

The case could bring money to the district, and it shows how much time schools spend on phones and social media.

The evidence

The packet includes the staff report and a draft resolution authorizing participation; the outcome of the vote is not yet in the record.
