Superintendent retiring; board to interview principal for top job
What happened
The board accepted Superintendent Mark Bejot's retirement, effective June 30, 2027. On October 12 the board took up the superintendent search. It called a special meeting for October 29, 2026 to interview Principal Lucas McCain for the job.
Why it matters to families
The superintendent runs the district and its budget. If the principal is promoted, Maywood would also need a new principal for its single K-12 campus.
