Board studies combining schools; community meetings planned

What happened
On October 20, 2026 the board held a special workshop where an architecture firm presented a school consolidation study of building capacity and use, with several scenarios for combining or closing buildings to save money, such as fewer teachers and staff per building and lower upkeep costs. The board agreed it would not pursue the first scenario for 2027-28. Staff said community meetings on two other scenarios would follow the October 26 board meeting. Gyms would stay open for community use, and no building sales are assumed.
Why it matters to families
Closing or combining schools would change where children go to school and which staff positions remain, and the district links the study to its money problems.
The evidence
The October 20 recording (auto-captions) shows the presentation and the board's direction. No vote to close a school is in the collected record.
