Montclair proposes districtwide rules for generative AI use

What happened

The Board is scheduled to take a first reading of Policy 2365, Acceptable Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI), which would govern AI use by all students, teachers, administrators and professional staff in any district setting or context.

The proposed policy would establish districtwide guardrails for classroom and staff use of AI, including academic-integrity expectations, citation or documentation of AI-generated content, privacy and accuracy concerns, and a district AI Plan covering permitted staff uses in grading, assignments, assessments and instruction.
