What happened

At its October 13, 2026 work meeting, the board discussed a plan for hot classrooms: start school the week before Labor Day, add two early-release days in the first week, and budget for cooling systems starting in 2027-28, beginning with the hottest third floors. No vote was taken.

Why it matters to families

A later start would shift the school calendar for every family, and days would need to be made up elsewhere, such as a shorter spring break.
