What happened

The adopted budget shows the general fund balance falling from $16.4 million in July 2025 to $9.9 million by June 2026 and a projected $9.6 million by June 2027. That is about 3.1 months of spending, down from 5.2 months two years earlier. The 2025-26 drop included a $3.1 million gym and a $1.5 million contingency.

Why it matters to families

Savings are the district's cushion for emergencies and for gaps like the special education shortfall. A smaller cushion leaves less room to avoid cuts or tax increases later.
