What happened

The board approved a 2026-27 calendar with 180 days of school, down from 184. The state did not fund the "K-12 Plus" money the district had used for the extra days. Teachers keep 190-day contracts, with the 10 non-student days used for training. School starts August 10 and ends before Memorial Day. The chosen option got 52% of staff votes and 69% of family votes.

Why it matters to families

Students get four fewer school days in 2026-27. The district kept the training days to support teachers.

The evidence

March 17, 2026 recording: K-12 Plus funding "that we'd been using to expand our calendar to 184 days ... was not funded this year," so the options "went to 180 days of instruction"; the board approved Option 2 ("Motion carried").
