School year will start August 26 and keep five snow days
What happened
On March 9 the board approved the 2026-27 calendar. Students start Wednesday, August 26, before Labor Day. The calendar keeps five traditional snow days, and school will end no later than June 11.
Why it matters to families
Families now know the first and latest last day of school. The board kept real snow days instead of switching to remote learning days.
The evidence
A survey of 116 staff and 173 parents came first; parents strongly preferred traditional snow days. The board then approved the calendar as first proposed. Evidence comes from auto-generated captions of the Western Hills Access Television recording, not approved minutes.
