Tentative teacher contract includes raises and a $1,500 stipend

What happened
The district and teachers’ union have reached a tentative 2026–27 agreement that would raise teachers’ base salaries by $500 and provide every teacher a $1,500 stipend. The agreement also includes a separate $250 literacy-endorsement increase and clarifies that teachers with enough sick leave may take 40 consecutive contract days for maternity leave; the board had not yet ratified it.
Why it matters to families
The compensation and leave provisions would change teachers’ pay and benefits across the district, but families should note that they were still awaiting formal board approval at this meeting.
The evidence
At the November 2 special meeting, the superintendent described the agreement as tentative and said it would be posted until the board could formally ratify it on November 10. The terms presented were a $500 base salary increase for all teachers, a $1,500 stipend for all teachers, a separate $250 literacy-endorsement base salary increase, and maternity leave of 40 consecutive contract days when a teacher has the required sick days. No ratification vote occurred in this meeting transcript.
