Superintendent Kenneth Duva's contract approved

What happened

At the February 3, 2026 budget work session the School Committee unanimously approved a contract for Superintendent Kenneth Duva, after tabling the item at four earlier meetings between December and January. At the same meeting the committee approved a 2026-2029 contract for Bridget Hayes as the district's new Director of Operations, a post created in November 2025 when the Director of Facilities and School Safety position was restructured after that director resigned.

The superintendent runs the district day to day and recommends the budget, the staffing plan and most major contracts, so who holds the job and for how long shapes everything else.
