One grading policy now covers both middle school and high school

What happened

On June 16, 2026 the committee approved a revised grading policy (IKA) that merges the separate middle school and high school policies into one. It sets when students may redo or make up late work, requires departments to set the rules for retaking summative assessments so students in the same course level are treated the same, and adjusts the weight given to assessments. The older middle school policy, IKA.1, was deleted on June 25, 2026. An earlier version of this policy had been rejected by the committee the year before.

Why it matters to families

Grading rules decide how a student's work turns into a report card grade, including whether a student can retake a test. Doing it the same way in every school means less depends on which teacher a student happens to get.
