What is changing for North Middlesex students?

A $69.5 million FY27 plan alongside new curriculum and student-device rules

The regional School Committee governs schools serving Ashby, Pepperell, and Townsend. During the collected period it approved the FY27 operating, transportation, and debt budgets; revised graduation rules; prepared a new grades 3-4 history curriculum; and adopted updated rules for cell phones, artificial intelligence, and student restraint.

The FY27 plan totals about $69.5 million

The adopted components are $60.6 million for operations, $5.3 million for transportation, and $3.7 million for debt service, supported by $2.75 million from Excess and Deficiency funds.

Graduation and curriculum rules are changing

The committee adopted updated graduation and competency policies and reported plans to introduce Investigating History in grades 3 and 4.

Student phone use is more restricted

The final policy applies districtwide and aligns with high-school handbook language restricting phone use during the school day.

A community fitness court is moving forward

The committee accepted Townsend's fitness equipment gift and an agreement providing community access outside school hours.

Several later meetings have agendas but no posted minutes in the collected archive. Those agendas establish what was scheduled or proposed, not whether every proposal was ultimately approved.
