State orders fix to discipline reporting

High-risk

What happened

TEA reviewed how the district reports discipline and handles expulsions. The district will follow a corrective action plan through September 30, 2027, with staff training and a TEA specialist. It also starts a program that keeps some students on campus instead of sending them to alternative school.

Why it matters to families

This affects how students are disciplined and whether records sent to the state are correct.

The evidence

At the August 11, 2026 workshop, staff said TEA completed a compliance review of discipline reporting and expulsion practices and would resolve it through a corrective action plan. The board approved it in the August 19 consent agenda. Evidence comes from the district's auto-generated YouTube captions, which can garble names and numbers.
