School police allowed to carry Tasers

What happened
On October 29, 2025, the board voted 6-0 to let Roma ISD police officers use Tasers on duty. It also approved a Taser policy written by the school attorney.
Why it matters to families
Officers now have another tool to use on campus, and families may want to know the rules. Staff said Tasers are a last resort after talking a person down. Anyone hit by a Taser must be checked at a hospital.
The evidence
The official October 29, 2025 recording shows agenda item 8, authorizing the police department to use conducted energy weapons. It includes the deputy superintendent's description of the policy, officer certification and training. The motion carried 6 in favor, none opposed, one absent. It is based on auto-generated captions.
