Student-assignment policy adds a school-employee preference

What happened

SFUSD updated Policy 5101 so children of school-based employees who live in the district receive priority at the employee's school after other tiebreakers but before all other applicants.

Why it matters to families

The change can affect which families receive seats at oversubscribed schools. The same update removes a temporary prekindergarten preference and revises early-education-to-TK feeder patterns for 2027-28.

The June 9 consent item says Policy 5101 was updated to incorporate earlier Board votes, including the employee tiebreaker, removal of the one-year PK tiebreaker, and updated feeder patterns.
