What happened

At the April 14 meeting the superintendent said an AI policy would come to the board 'next month' and must be in place by July 1. The 2026-27 student handbook already says AI may be used only as a tool.

Why it matters to families

AI rules decide what students may use for schoolwork. The handbook says other uses count as cheating and earn a grade of 0.

The evidence

The April 14 minutes say: 'we bring to you an AI policy next month that needs to be in place in our school district by July 1.' The board minutes from May 12 through September 8 list no AI policy vote. The 2026-27 student handbook, item 12 of its technology rules, covers AI use. A vote may exist in records we did not collect.
