District news
Bus vendor vandalism disrupts about 50 routes and 1,800 students
What happened
The superintendent said acts of vandalism at bus vendor Durham School Services hit about 50 routes and 1,800 students during the week of October 12. Other vendors took over routes while Durham rebuilt its fleet.
Why it matters to families
Late or missing buses make it hard for students to get to class. The district uses six bus vendors, so others could cover, but help from them will be needed until Durham is fully back.
The evidence
The October 16 update says Capital Bus played a major role and will keep helping until Durham is 'one hundred percent back on their feet.' The district listed vendors Durham, Brown, Capital Bus, A+ MediTrans, Amazing Grace and CDTA. The update does not give a date for full recovery or details of the vandalism.
