Sheridan teachers strike in April; district and union agree on a path forward

What happened
Teachers in the Sheridan Education Association went on strike in early April 2026. By April 28 the superintendent said the district and union had agreed on a path forward. The board accepted a memorandum of understanding with the union and amended its Policy H on union recognition and bargaining.
Why it matters to families
A strike closes or disrupts classes and affects teaching staff, testing and student learning. The agreement sets how the district and its unions will bargain going forward.
The evidence
The Apr. 2 and Apr. 15 special meetings were closed sessions on the union's notice of intent to strike and a return-to-work agreement. The Apr. 28 minutes record the superintendent's report on the agreement and approval of the MOU and Policy H changes. May minutes thank staff for work during the strike.
