What happened

On August 25 the board recognized the Sheridan Education Association as bargaining agent for a new unit of classified employees, such as bus drivers, custodians, paraprofessionals, secretaries and food service workers. The Colorado Department of Labor verified that 35.71% of these workers wanted representation. The superintendent must start talks on a first contract, aiming to finish by the end of 2026-27.

Why it matters to families

Pay and working conditions for non-teaching staff will now be negotiated, which affects costs and could affect services like buses and meals.
