District takes next step toward building a new high school

Facilities

What happened

Tunica County is planning a new high school. In March 2026 the board considered hiring Dale | Bailey for up to $75,000 to study cost and location. On October 8, 2026 the district asked finance firms to help pay for it. Proposals are due November 10, and a board decision is expected December 14, 2026.

Why it matters to families

A new high school would replace or change where Rosa Fort High School students go to class, and paying for it may mean bonds or other debt. The financial advisor is asked to check whether a public vote or county help is needed.

The evidence

The district's request for proposals for municipal financial advisory services says the firm will check the district's borrowing limits, find grants, loans and bonds, and build a multi-year financing plan. Earlier records show an October 2025 feasibility-study request and a March 16, 2026 agenda item to hire Dale | Bailey for the study at up to $75,000.
