Unity left SAU 6 and formed its own SAU 109

What happened

Unity withdrew from SAU 6, which it shared with Claremont, and set up its own SAU 109. In April 2026 the board approved a contract for Superintendent Forrest Ransdell starting July 1, 2026. On June 23 it approved the withdrawal agreement with Claremont. Unity owes 10.18% of one SAU 6 employee's health benefits for up to three years (about $12,000 total).

Why it matters to families

Unity's central-office services, including superintendent, business office, IT and payroll, now come from a new, very small SAU. Its start-up costs had to come from the 2026-27 budget.
