New attendance rule: more than 8 missed days means an Incomplete

Day-to-day

What happened

The board approved an updated attendance policy (#3122) on August 18, 2026. High school students who miss more than 8 school days in a quarter get an 'Incomplete' grade, and days past the limit must be made up in June summer school. Medical absences need a doctor's note within 72 hours.

Why it matters to families

Families need to track absences closely. Too many missed days can hold back a student's grade until summer school, and truancy can lead to suspension.

The evidence

The attached policy #3122 text sets the 8-day rule, the 72-hour doctor's note rule and truancy steps. The August 18, 2026 minutes record the first reading and approval and the change to eight allowed days.
