Younger students must hand in phones each morning

Day-to-day

What happened

Under the 2026-27 student handbook, K-8 students give their phones and smartwatches to the elementary secretary when they arrive and get them back after school. High school students must keep phones in a locker or classroom holder and can use them only before school, at lunch, between classes and after school.

Why it matters to families

This sets how phones are handled every school day. Breaking the rule can mean losing the phone for the day, a lunch detention, or losing phone privileges for the semester.

The evidence

The Student Handbook 2026-2027 section 'Cell Phones and Smartwatches' lists the rules and a three-step consequence ladder. The board approved the handbooks on August 18, 2026.
