What happened

Under Senate Bill 11, every Texas school board had to vote on whether to set aside time for prayer and Bible reading. On Feb. 12, 2026, the Waller ISD board passed a resolution not to adopt it, while keeping the daily pledges and moment of silence.

Why it matters to families

The vote decides whether students will have a scheduled prayer and reading period during the school day. It will not.

The evidence

In the Feb. 12 recording, trustees discuss consent forms, supervision and scheduling, then approve the resolution rejecting the SB 11 period.
