What happened

On May 14, 2026, the board approved stricter eligibility rules. Students in sports and other activities must keep at least a 70. A grade of 60-69 in an honors, AP or dual-credit class can be waived, for up to two classes per grading period. A grade below 60 makes a student ineligible for at least 3 weeks. The rules cover junior highs too.

Why it matters to families

Staff said a student could have a 51 and still play under the old rules. Families of athletes need to watch grades more closely.

The evidence

The May 14 recording includes the presentation of the rule change and the approval.
