New student conduct and discipline policy is open for public comment

Day-to-day

What happened

On October 22, 2026 the board put a combined Student Conduct and Discipline Policy out for public comment until its next meeting on November 19, 2026. The draft gives principals more discretion, including in weapons cases, and rewrites the dress code. Staff said an anonymous comment form would be posted on the district website under Board of Education policies out for review.

Why it matters to families

The policy will set discipline rules for every student. This is the window for families to weigh in before the board votes.

The evidence

The October 22 agenda lists the item, and the meeting video records the vote to post it for review.
