How is Woodson ISD paid for?
Woodson ISD is a one-campus K-12 district of about 175 students in Woodson, Throckmorton County, Texas. Like other Texas districts, it is paid through the state school-finance formula, which counts students and mixes state aid with a local property tax the board sets each year. A seven-member elected board of trustees adopts the budget and tax rate and supervises Superintendent Casey Adams; Brent Mills is principal.
2026-27 tax rate
Proposed at $0.7637 per $100 on July 27, 2026; budget and rate adopted 7-0 on August 31, 2026.
Financial rating
Preliminary state School FIRST financial rating of A reported September 28, 2026; the 2024-25 audit was approved.
Staff housing
Construction contract awarded to Oline Inc. in January 2026; land bought with local funds.
Board
President Gary Brockman, VP Brady Miller, Secretary Jim Tom Boland, plus John Michaels, Brigette Carruthers, Heather Webb and Jacob Valentic. The May 2026 election was cancelled because both candidates were unopposed.
The board posts every agenda and minutes with recorded votes. The minutes rarely state dollar amounts, so budget totals and project costs are not on the public record online.
