No seat belts added to current school buses

What happened
After a state-required seat-belt cost study (Senate Bill 546), the board voted on May 7, 2026 to keep its current buses without adding seat belts, because of money limits and warranty and safety issues. Any new bus it buys will have 3-point seat belts.
Why it matters to families
Students who ride district buses will keep riding buses without seat belts until those buses are replaced.
