What happened

The board adopted a renamed policy, 'Removal of Students from Classes.' A teacher files a written report and parents are told; if the behavior continues, a second report can lead to longer removal or another placement. Some board members said it still does not do enough to protect teachers who are assaulted. Staff will list which offenses lead to immediate removal.

Why it matters to families

Board members said at several meetings that classroom disruptions are hurting learning. This rule decides how and when a student can be taken out of class.
