What happened

The 2026-27 Code of Student Conduct bans phone use for the whole school day, including hallways, restrooms and the cafeteria. Elementary and middle school students who bring a phone must turn it off and put it in a cell phone cabinet in their homeroom or the main office. High school students must keep phones off and stored in a backpack, locker, car or a set spot in class. The code also bans deliveries such as DoorDash, flowers and balloons during the school day, and bans masks without a doctor's note.

Why it matters to families

Families need to plan how to reach their children, because the school says to use school communication tools instead of phones.

The evidence

The 2026-27 Code of Student Conduct, posted on the district site in July 2026, lists the cell phone rules for K-5, 6-8 and 9-12, including the cabinets. Its dress code bans masks without a doctor's note, and its rules ban deliveries. The May 11, 2026 recording shows these as proposed changes, including PreK-5 phone cabinets.
