What happened

Lewis and Clark Elementary has about 1,039 students in a building made for about 919. The district has asked the county since November 2025 for $1.1 million in leftover FY25 money to add modular classrooms, but the county has not released it. In October 2026 staff said modulars ordered now would not be finished until late April or May 2027.

Why it matters to families

Students are learning in converted teacher workrooms, and chorus is taught on the stage while gym and lunch go on. More homes are being built nearby.

The evidence

The September 14, 2026 recording gives the enrollment of 1,039 and says it is 120 over capacity, with no classrooms left. The October 19 recording says the FY25 funds are still not released and gives the late April or early May manufacturing timeline. The November 10, 2025 recording gives the $1.1 million modular cost estimate.
