What happened

The board approved a new artificial intelligence policy (7540.09) on September 14, 2026. Earlier, in January, it added an AI goal to its plan with a K-12 scale that tells students when AI use is allowed and a process for reviewing suspected AI cheating. Student handbooks also added rules against AI-made harassment.

Why it matters to families

These rules decide how students may use tools like chatbots for schoolwork and what happens if they misuse them.

The evidence

The August 10, 2026 recording shows first reading of 7540.09 and the September 14 recording shows final approval; the January 12, 2026 recording describes the AI acceptable-use scale and the MagicSchool AI tool.
