What happened

The 2026-27 handbook says East Nicolaus High is a "No Cell, Bell to Bell" school. Phones must sit in each classroom's set spot, and smart watches, earbuds and smart glasses count too. Penalties grow from a 1-hour detention to the office keeping a phone for 30 days. On October 12 the board was asked to approve more edits to these rules.

Why it matters to families

This changes what students can carry and use every class period, and repeat breaks of the rule can cost them their phone for a month.
