Three jobs cut so staff can get a 4% raise
What happened
Greensville County gave the schools $333,865 less local money than the year before, while the state raised its funded pay raise from 2% to 4%. To pay for the full 4% raise, the board eliminated three more positions, the superintendent said on August 10, 2026.
Why it matters to families
Less county money meant the school system had to choose between smaller raises and fewer staff. Cutting positions can mean larger workloads or fewer services.
The evidence
In the August 10, 2026 meeting recording, Superintendent Wright reads a letter saying the county budget was $333,865 below the prior year and the board decided to eliminate three additional positions to fund the 4% raise.
