Local taxes, state funding and separate bond programs
Lewisville ISD combines local property taxes with state and federal money. State formulas can require excess local tax revenue to return to the state, so rising property values do not automatically give schools more operating money. The board adopts the budget and tax rate.
Operating and construction money have different jobs
The general fund pays for instruction, staff and daily services. Child nutrition and debt service have separate budgets. The board’s bond updates identify 2023 and 2024 projects as supported by interest-and-sinking funds.
The budget uses extra resources and still plans a shortfall
For 2026–27, general-fund spending is $565.36 million, down from $573.50 million in the prior adopted budget. Revenue is $545.01 million; $10 million in transfers and $3 million in property-sale proceeds bring total resources to $558.01 million, leaving a $7.35 million planned draw on fund balance.
Seven elected trustees set district direction
Trustees work with Superintendent Dr. Lori Rapp on curriculum, policy, spending and facilities. They serve overlapping three-year terms. Single-Member Place 1 and At-Large Place 6 are scheduled for election May 1, 2027.
Per-student spending needs a matching student count
The budget documents do not establish a current comparable spending-per-student figure. General-fund totals include central services and differ from an individual school allocation; debt service, child nutrition and construction must be treated separately.
