What happened

The committee approved 2026-27 handbooks that ban students from using AI tools on schoolwork unless the teacher explicitly allows it for that assignment. Unapproved AI use is treated as an academic honesty violation.

Why it matters to families

Students need to check each teacher's AI rules. The K-8 handbook also adds AI to rules on cheating and on sharing fake or non-consensual images.

The evidence

Sept 28 minutes record the AI language and the 9-0 handbook vote; the handbook memo lists discipline codes D5 and D17 changes.
