High school window and skylight replacement moves to the state for approval

Facilities

What happened

The committee voted 6-0 to send design development and construction documents for replacing the windows and skylights at North Providence High School to the Rhode Island Department of Education's design review portal, after a presentation by the district's architect at Studio JAED. Two months earlier the committee had approved sending a separate set of building envelope improvements for the same school to the state. RIDE approval is what unlocks state money for school construction in Rhode Island.

Why it matters to families

Windows and skylights are how a school stays warm, dry and lit. This is the largest building project at the high school on the public record this year, and it has to clear the state before work can start.

The evidence

The November 19, 2025 approved minutes record a presentation by Mr. Phil Conte of Studio JAED on the window and skylight replacement at the high school and a 6-0 vote to approve submission of the design development and construction document to RIDE. The September 24, 2025 approved minutes record an earlier 7-0 vote on submitting building envelope improvements to RIDE. Neither set of minutes gives a cost or a construction schedule.
