Centredale and Greystone schools merge, with staff moved between buildings

Facilities

What happened

The School Committee approved two staff transfer agreements, one with Local 1033 and one with Local 2435, described on the meeting agenda as covering the merger of Centredale and Greystone. The vote was 7-0. Merging two elementary buildings means the staff who worked in them are reassigned, and the children in them are taught together.

Why it matters to families

When two schools become one, families can face a different building, a different bus ride and a different set of teachers and classmates. This is the single biggest change to how North Providence organises its elementary schools in the year covered here.

The evidence

The April 29, 2026 meeting agenda lists new business items 10d and 10e as 'Staff Transfer MOA Local 1033 (merger of Centredale/Greystone)' and 'Staff Transfer MOA Local 2435 (merger of Centredale/Greystone)'. The approved minutes of the same meeting record that items 10a through 10e were approved on a 7-0 vote. The agenda and minutes do not state how many staff or students moved.
