What happened

On July 16, 2026 the committee voted 4-0 to approve the revised FY2027 budget. The superintendent reminded the committee it is $245,000 less than the district requested and still represents a reduction, with the increase coming mainly from state aid and categorical funds rather than the town. The same meeting moved reserve funds for special education, transportation, utilities and tuition from $510,000 to $640,000 out of a $1.9 million surplus. Any added staffing depends on savings from the new bus contract and grant money.

Why it matters to families

This is the budget the schools will actually run on. It decides which of the positions cut in the spring can be restored.

The evidence

The July 16, 2026 approved minutes record the 4-0 vote on the FY27 revised budget, the superintendent's statement that it is $245,000 less than requested and still a reduction, and the vote raising reserve amounts from $510,000 to $640,000 using the $1.9 million surplus.
