What happened

On June 22, 2026 the board voted unanimously to approve the 2026-27 budget and a resolution letting the district spend part of its reserves. Staff said the budget uses about $2.7 million of saved money (fund balance) to cover the gap between spending and falling income. The board can still change the budget before January 31, 2027.

Why it matters to families

Spending savings to balance a budget works for a year or two. If enrollment and state money keep falling, the district would need cuts or new money later.

The evidence

Minutes record the unanimous votes on the budget and Resolution 2026-06-03; the June 8 board meeting minutes state the $2.7 million use of fund balance and a smoothing rule for funded student counts.
