What happened

On June 8, 2026 the board adopted Resolution 2026-06-02 endorsing Initiative 195, a proposed statewide graduated income tax. On September 14 it adopted Resolution 2026-09-01 endorsing the same measure, now numbered Amendment 87, which is on the November 2026 ballot. Supporters say it would create a new state fund for K-12, health care and early childhood.

Why it matters to families

The state's school funding is the district's biggest source of money. Board members are taking a public position on how the state raises it.

The evidence

Both resolutions are recorded in the June 8 and September 14 minutes. The collected records do not include the election result.
