What happened

The board voted 5–0 on September 22 to adopt revised phone rules and a new administrative regulation. Phones must be silent, put away and out of sight during instruction, with allowed exceptions.

Why it matters to families

Students can still use devices outside instructional time under the policy. This is not a full school-day phone ban.

The evidence

The vote followed student surveys and revisions after the August policy approval. The final rule allows teacher or administrator permission and applicable emergency exceptions. All five trustees supported the September version, including members who had earlier raised concerns.
