What happened

The board unanimously approved a secondary-school pilot of Rise and Recover Alliance, a nine-week digital substance-use program.

Why it matters to families

The pilot adds an option for students who need help. Its local results have not yet been demonstrated, and it does not restore the former county on-campus clinician service.

The evidence

The July 28 vote followed discussion of YVAPE education, Hill programs and outside provider referrals. Student trustee Nathan Barry questioned the digital approach, while Barham preferred access to a human clinician; both supported making an option available. Claims of a prior program’s 100% success were disputed, not verified.
